Veterans visit vets on Veterans Day

American Legion Post #11 members along with Mike Bierl, Greene County veteran service officer, and program speaker this year, visited veterans at Regency Park and The Gardens on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Each year the Floyd W. Brown American Legion Post #11 conducts a Veterans Day program at both Regency Park and The Gardens to remember, to recognize and to show appreciation to our local veterans who have served their country. This year the veterans were each presented with a Thank You coin.

“The local American Legion post members visiting our ‘brothers in arms’ on Veterans Day seems to me to be one of the most rewarding efforts we can make to bring companionship and greetings to our fellow veterans less able to get out and enjoy their day,” said vice commander and past post commander Jim Andrew. “The heartwarming feeling and stories that were shared were a small payback to these courageous men and women who served before us and often feel forgotten in their daily lives.

“We may very well be in their position some day in the future and I know it would surely make me feel better to have my service recognized. After all, it was an honor.”
